Sofia El Khyari
Animation director — Oneiris Animation
Sofia El Khyari is an animation director and filmmaker whose work has been screened at major international festivals including Locarno, TIFF, and Annecy. Her films have also been acquired and exhibited by institutions such as the Institut du Monde Arabe, the Musée du Quai Branly–Jacques Chirac, and the Cinémathèque Française.
She is the founder of Oneiris Animation, Morocco’s first production company dedicated to independent auteur animation. Her practice spans filmmaking and visual storytelling, with a focus on developing distinctive animated worlds and personal cinematic language.
At SACC, El Khyari will share insights from her filmmaking process in Feature Films Around the World - Different Approaches to Create a Movie and Poetry in Motion - Developing an Atmospheric Storyboard Inspired by a Poem, offering attendees a look at story development, mood, and animation direction.
